One thing you could not help notice at Agile 2009 was the talk about lean and Kanban. Suddenly in the last six months it seems that agile has become so 2003 and now the new silver bullet is lean and Kanban. I believe Kanban is brilliant and informally incorporated its practices, but this apparent sudden focus on Kanban is startling. A charitable person may explain the adoption of agile has solved or reduced a number of problems software organizations experience and now these improved organizations are discovering new impediments in their way to even higher levels of productivity.
