Coaching

It's the Monday after the Course

Coaching is one approach to dealing with what we call the “First Monday After the Course Syndrome”. An organization decides to transform its software development process. Team members have enjoyed intensive training in the new process, everyone is excited about their new knowledge, the instructors have left, it’s Monday morning, now what do we do?

Coaching builds on the momentum started by training and helps your people to start doing things differently. Coaching reduces the time it takes for a team to become proficient in the new practices. People are not “spinning their wheels” every time they encounter a situation that does not match what was taught by the instructor or described by a text book. Coaching also reinforce the new practices, to make sure they take and that people do not slide back into the comfort zone of their old practices.

Case E-commerce Company

An e-commerce company had adopted a new software method for developing their next generation platform and was not making much forward progress. Two WSA staff provided the necessary training and coaching for staff to apply what they had learned to their situation. Soon they began to make good progress towards an on-time delivery.
